Why is it that every time I type hotmail in the address bar and hit enter the browser jumps to google?

I swear
Why is it that every time I type hotmail in the address bar and hit enter the browser jumps to google?
If you are just typing "hotmail" your browser is taking it as a search word, not a location. If you have the Google Toolbar installed on your machine you can click on Settings - Options, then in the Toolbar Options window that comes up, click on the More tab and check the box that says "Enable Browse by Name in the Address Bar". After you make that change, you will be able to type in the word "Hotmail" and have it automatically route to www.hotmail.com.
Reply:It does that because Google is the default search engine, and so by typing ONLY Hotmail into the bar it uses Google as the search engine to search that site. When you type in a word in that bar it searches using the engine.
